The Five Best Cordless Lawn Mowers for 2019
In this review I will be discussing cordless lawn mowers. I decided to pick the 5 best cordless lawn mowers for 2019. This isn’t any easy subject for me as, until lately, I have always used the gas (petrol) types.
Therefore I found it necessary to have many conversations with my friends, neighbors and relatives in order to come up with some sort of list that will give you some better models to look at. I also read numerous amounts of reviews on each of the ones I’ve chosen.
As in previous reviews on other gardening tools and equipment that I have compiled, I find it necessary to let you know that at times I will need to rely on others for information on the strength, durability and quality of certain tools and equipment. Although I have personally tried out many of them in my gardening life, It’s impossible for me to have used them all.
I would be doing you an injustice if I only reviewed those that I have tried out myself.
Having said that, I am just starting my cordless tools adventure. Over the last 12 months I have converted many of my gas or electric tools to the cordless types, including one of my lawn mowers. Therefore, my knowledge on these products is growing continually.
I have restricted the amount of mowers I’m reviewing in this article to 5 models. These are the models I found other people preferred.
1). Greenworks 20 ” Model 25302.
No matter what product you buy today there is always going to be one out of a hundred that will have issues. I’m not to sure what has happened to thorough product testing today. Surely they can iron out any issues within a factory environment.
In any case, it’s not so much the faults in a certain machine that is an issue, but rather how quickly a company will be to either fix the problem or replace the tool.
Thankfully most business’s today understand the importance of customer service and are usually quick to respond to the customer.
This cordless mower seems to be one of the most popular available on the net today. It comes with two batteries, one is 4AH and the other 2AH.
- G-max 40V Li-Ion battery system powers multiple tools for complete yard work system–includes one 4 Ah battery and one 2 Ah battery and charger, Voltage – 40 Volts
- 20-inch cutting deck offers a great balance of maneuverability and cutting capacity making it ideal for mid-sized areas
- Innovative smart cut technology adjusts for power or runtime based on the thickness of your grass
- Dual blades offer better cut quality, superior mulching and bagging capabilities.
1). This cordless mower is quiet and efficient.
2). Coming with two batteries means it can cut an average yard without recharging.
3). Lightweight and easy to maneuver.
4). Well priced for a good quality machine.
1). The unit is not well sealed and the motor can get dirty after use. It’s best to clean it after each use with an air compressor.
2). It can miss sections of grass, meaning you will have to go over some sections twice.
3). You will need extra batteries if you have an above average sized lawn.
4). The battery is a little difficult to remove.
After reading many of the reviews available I have to agree with the overall rating given by other.
I have rated this unit 8/10
Where can I purchase one?
2).Snapper XD SXDWM82K 82V Electric Cordless 21-Inch.
I had never heard of this particular brand before undertaking some research on the model mentioned. By all accounts it is very popular with buyers and has received some excellent feedback.

3). Excellent battery life. This particular model comes with a rapid charger which is an extra bonus to have.
4). Mower is light and easy to handle.
5). Cuts damp grass easily.
1). It’s a bit noisier than other brands.
2). The self-propelled mechanism can snap.
3). The grass can get caught between the plastic and metal lip, causing rust to occur.
I couldn’t find to many bad comments on this machine. I would have thought that having two rather small batteries would have been an issue, but it seems they work well and can power through an average lawn without too much hassle.
Because of the positive reviews I read, and there were many, I have had to rate this unit at 9/10.
Where Can I have another look at this unit?
3.Ryobi 20 in. 40-Volt Brushless Lithium-Ion Cordless Self-Propelled Mower.
Fortunately I know a fair bit about Ryobi products myself as I’ve been converting a lot of my tools to this brand. I purchased one of these cordless mowers a couple of months ago and, so far, it’s proved to be fantastic.
While mowing, I noticed how light, maneuverable and easy the mower was to push. With the desired deck height selected, the resulting cut was clean.
The manufacturer states the following benefit.
- Works with all Ryobi 40-Volt lithium-ion tools and batteries
- Brushless Motor for Increased Run Time and Gas-Like Power
- Self-Propelled Rear Wheel Drive for Maximum Convenience
- Includes 40-Volt High Capacity Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger
1). Having an uneven lawn, I engaged the self-propelled lever and was able to negotiate the slopes with ease. (There is a “slide function” on the handle to set the desired speed).
2). While mowing, I noticed how light, maneuverable and easy the mower was to push. With the desired deck height selected, the resulting cut was clean.
3).Folds up well for easy storage.
4). Very quiet and easy to use.
5). Cuts most house blocks with one battery.
6). Cuts long grass with ease.
1). Only comes with one 5AH battery. If you have an above average block you will need two.
2). One person had issues with the mower stopping during mowing. No one else reported this.
Even though I have only had my machine a few months I can only personally give it glowing reports. We have a larger block of land and this mower handles it easily.
However, I do have 2 batteries for it. Fortunately I have purchased several other Ryobi skins for other tools. A couple of these came with 5AH batteries. If you have both charged up it will cut the grass on a large block without any issues.
The rating I give this machine is 9/10.
This may seem high when I haven’t had it for very long, and was only able to find a few reviews for it. but having purchased other Ryobe products I have come to love this brand. I have had no issues with any that I’ve purchased.
4). Worx WG744 17-inch 40V (4.0Ah) Cordless Lawn Mower.
This particular brand is fairly well-known and has a good reputation. Fortunately I was able to find numerous reviews for this mower as I have never used one myself and neither had any of my friends or family.
The Manufacturer states the following benefits.
- The 17″ 20V power Module mower includes 2 removable 4.0Ah batteries that delivers 40V power and performance.
- Patented intellicut provides additional torque on demand and the ability to conserve Battery when desired.

- Grass bag features a full indicator and oversized carry handle for easy disposal.
- Cuts up to 1/8 Acre per charge, and dual Port charger can charge two batteries at once.
1). Cuts the grass and smaller weeds well. Easy to push.
2). Light and easy to push.
3). Excellent price range.
4). Batteries have excellent power and cut the grass on a reasonable lawn with just one charge.
1). Cosmetically it looks a bit cheap.
2). Probably will wear out quicker than some other models.
Once again I have to rely on the advice and ratings of others. But, considering it’s price I believe it would be an excellent tool for a small lawn. I would worry that larger lawns could cause it to wear out quicker.
My Rating for this mower is 7/10
5.EGO Power+ 20-Inch 56-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Lawn Mower.
This is another great mower with fantastic reviews. Even though I have never used one of these mowers I had no trouble finding hundreds of reviews on it. The vast majority of people found this product excellent.

I would have rated this mower a lot higher if the customer service had of been better. Several people complained about the lack of quality customer service. Personally, I believe customer service to be one of the most important components in rating a product.
The product may be fantastic, and by all indications this one is, but if you can’t or won’t resolve peoples issues than I wouldn’t purchase from you.
I have rated this product 7/10
